The Fox & Hounds - Farleigh Wick
The Fox & Hounds - Farleigh Wick - near Bath
History -
The origins of the pub are a little vague some reports say 16th century others mid 1700's.
It is just a little way along on the infamous Sally in the Woods road heading towards Bradford on Avon
It is currently permanently closed awaiting its fate.
Hauntings
The ghost is said to be Mary, the wife of a former landlord and wealthy landowner John Cottle.
She died in 1814 and is said to be seen sitting by the fireside smiling.
Outside the pub another female is seen, wearing a dark red/ maroon raincoat, with a hood up.
She is said to step out in front of cars.
Thoughts -
It wasn't until I discovered this story that I remembered I used to go in this pub many years ago, it was really welcoming and served lovely food, I seem to remember the toilets were a little creepy, as is the norm with a lot of old country pubs..
This is the same stretch of road to that of the mysterious sightings of a girl in white that runs into the path of cars, are the two linked? or separate energies?
I will have a look into the landlords wife, to verify this.
Was she witnessed by customers or owners and staff of the pub? and see if there are any other eye witness accounts of the woman in the red raincoat.
Have you ever heard of any stories for this pub or the village close by?
